Headquartered in New York, HarperCollins is one of the world’s leading English-language publishers. It was founded in 1817 as J. and J. Harper, and the name later changed to Harper & Brothers.  Later renamed Harper & Row, it was acquired by News Corporation in 1987.

Harper Collins has published such authors as Mark Twain, Thackeray, Dickens, John F. Kennedy, Maurice Sendak, and Martin Luther King Jr.
